Frequently asked questions
What is lost when converting VTT to SRT?
Positioning, style blocks, regions, cue identifiers and some tags are removed and reported. Basic bold, italic and underline are kept.
What happens to NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks?
They are removed as complete blocks and reported. Numbers or arrows inside them do not become dialogue.
Can I convert VTT timestamps without hours?
Yes. Valid minute:second.millisecond timestamps gain an hour field and three-digit milliseconds.
Are speaker tags and cue positioning preserved?
Voice tags and position settings are removed; speaker names inside tags are not added to dialogue. Literal tag-like text is escaped and reported to avoid accidental formatting.
Will overlapping cues be merged?
No. Source order, overlaps and multiline dialogue are retained. Cues are not merged.
Is the SRT output supported by every player?
No. SRT tag support varies by player. Review the preview and test in your target application.
